Fire in Coal-Laden Goods Train Near Kesinga Brought Under Control; Passenger Services Unaffected
Titlagarh (Odia Gossip Bureau, May 30): A fire broke out in a coal-loaded goods train under the Sambalpur Railway Division while it was passing through Kesinga at around 7:15 PM on Saturday, triggering an immediate emergency response from railway authorities.
Upon noticing the fire, railway officials swiftly activated emergency protocols and alerted local authorities. The affected train was brought to Titlagarh at approximately 8:15 PM to facilitate firefighting operations.
The Fire Brigade reached the site around 8:25 PM and launched intensive efforts to douse the blaze. Preliminary reports indicate that five wagons of the goods train were affected by the fire.
Senior railway officials and emergency response teams remained at the site, closely monitoring the situation and coordinating firefighting operations. Owing to the prompt action of the Railway and Fire Services personnel, the fire was completely extinguished within a short period, preventing any major escalation.
Railway authorities informed that the affected rake is now being prepared for onward movement after necessary safety checks.
Importantly, passenger train services remained unaffected throughout the incident, and train operations on the route continued normally. An investigation is expected to ascertain the cause of the fire, Railways sources informed.
